Your container, deconsolidated and moving the same week

Importer warehousing at CFL starts at the dock door: inbound containers are unloaded, palletised, consolidated and either stored or shipped by LTL and truckload across the US and Canada. Nine facilities in seven states mean port intake on the West Coast, the Gulf and the East Coast — Los Angeles and Long Beach, Port Houston, Port Newark — and delivery from the nearest building, under one contract, with demurrage and drayage exposure planned out before the vessel docks.

The challenge

Three things we hear on the first call, in the words we hear them.

01

“Demurrage starts before the truck shows up.”

Free days at the port run out while the container waits for a dock appointment, and every day after that is a fee nobody budgeted.

02

“Floor-loaded cartons take a crew and a day.”

A 40-foot container of loose cartons is four to six labour hours and a lot of ways to damage product before it ever hits a pallet.

03

“One container, thirty destinations.”

Splitting a container across customers means thirty freight bills, thirty BOLs and thirty chances for a reclass unless somebody consolidates properly.

How CFL runs it

Four steps, one account, one operator with their name on it.

  1. Drayage & appointment

Container pulled from the port or rail ramp against a confirmed dock slot, so free time is used and demurrage is not.

  2. Devan & palletise

Floor-loaded or palletised cargo unloaded, counted against the packing list, stretch-wrapped and labelled. Empties turned fast to stop per-diem.

  3. Consolidate

Orders built into fewer, fuller pallets and shipments — correct class, correct density, one BOL per destination.

  4. Ship & store the balance

LTL and truckload out the same week; the rest goes into pallet positions on weekly or monthly terms.

Three questions

What is your freight profile?

Pallet or parcel, container or domestic, urgent or scheduled. Three answers return the line items we would quote first — then build your manifest and an operator prices it.

Questions importers shippers ask

Anything not here: (818) 917-4966.

How quickly can a container be unloaded after it arrives?
Palletised containers are typically unloaded the day they arrive. Floor-loaded containers take longer because every carton is handled by hand; turnaround is confirmed on the proposal.
Do you arrange drayage from the port?
Yes. Drayage from the port or rail ramp to any CFL facility is dispatched same-day from $400 and scheduled against a dock appointment so free time at the terminal is used, not wasted.
What is the difference between devanning and transloading?
Devanning means unloading a container into a warehouse where cargo is counted, palletised and stored or consolidated. Transloading moves cargo straight from the container into a domestic trailer with little or no storage. CFL does both; the right choice depends on whether you need the inventory held or moved.
Can you ship consolidated freight into Canada?
Yes. LTL and truckload lanes into Canada are quoted per lane. You or your customs broker supply the commercial invoice and PARS paperwork; we build the shipment and the BOL.
